Boom
Boom
A classic throwback to the 90s, Boom is a good old cheesy bar. Playing music from the likes of Ant and Dec and The Backstreet boys this place can be great if you’re in the mood. Cheap drinks add to the fun and if you’re in there as a large group more often than not you can get a free bottle of shots.
So if you fancying a bit of something different why not take a look inside.

Chase
Chase
Chase is a trebles bar located on the Quayside. A stone’s throw away from Sea and a short walk to Legends, Chase is your ideal trebles bar if you’re in that part of town. Chase is also the most upmarket of all the trebles bars and for that reason entertains a different class of people. Chase is the bar of choice for the ‘posher’ contingency and upon entering you will be greeted by a site that epitomises the stereotype of private schooling. However if you can handle this then this is a great bar. Drinks are as cheap as anywhere else in Newcastle and are served in proper glasses. The styling is also better; it’s lighter and more modern than the likes of Basement and Sinners and provides a great drinking environment.
Posh or not, if you’re hitting the Quayside on a night out then Chase should definitely be considered a port of call.

Sam Jacks
Sam Jacks
This spot like Sinners is essential for a night at The Gate. For anyone who has come from a small rural town where there is only one awful night club you will love Sam Jacks. It successfully combines the pleasure of sticky floors, walls and seats you know and love so well, while still being able to offer lap dances. Yes, the infamous dentist chair (kindly donated by Newcastle Dental School) allows anyone to enjoy a lap dance while having a drink poured down your gullet. Yet this isn’t all, you can also test your rodeo skills on a robotic bull and with a selection of dancers on podiums what is not to like?
Open late most nights Sam Jacks offers the perfect opportunity to pre-load for TigerTiger and Mood. On Wednesday nights for those University sportsmen and women around you can enter TigerTiger through Sam Jacks and miss all the queues. The only negatives are that the drinks are more expensive than the likes of Sinners and the fact that it bills itself as an ‘American Bar,’ which frankly is nothing more than a cheap marketing ploy.
So if you’re at The Gate why not give it a go and see what you think of this ‘American Bar.’

Sinners
Sinners
This bar is pretty legendary for any student of Newcastle. Open 7 days a week, Sinners offers great student deals on drinks over normal prices, so get down there and take advantage of that NUS card. But lets not forget what sets Sinners apart from the rest, yes the CAGE. A serious night out is not complete unless some serious dancing or mischief has taken place within these metal bars.
Sinners is located right in the centre of The Gate making it perfect as a warm up for the likes of TigerTiger and Mood.

Basement
Basement Trebles Bar
Open 7 days a week Basment is a classic trebles bar of Newcastle, its dirt cheap. Trebles are £2 served in a “glamorous” plastic cup with skittles at 2 for a fiver. But if your not one to care about drinking apparatus this is as good as any pre-club bar in Newcastle, even if it is a little grimey. Just stroll down the stairs and a dingey dancefloor opens up, providing plenty of room to bust a few moves as the trebles start to hit.
Located near the Monument, Basement is an ideal place to “top up” before the clubs.
